Courtney C. Aasen is an Associate at Conrad & Metlitzky.  Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation in state and federal courts, and she has broad experience in contracts, class actions, products liability, privacy, environmental law, and other matters. 

 Courtney previously practiced at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where she regularly represented Fortune 500 and other leading companies in a broad array of both civil and criminal matters.  She helped obtain dismissal in California state courts of several products liability actions, including class actions, against a leading technology company.  She also actively provided pro bono legal services with a focus on immigration law.  She represented several leading immigration law scholars as amici curiae before the United States Supreme Court and various federal courts of appeals in multiple immigration and constitutional law-related matters.

 Courtney served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard Seeborg and the Honorable William H. Orrick of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.  She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2015, where she was awarded the Alfred S. Forsyth Prize in environmental law and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law.  She is a member of the Asian American Bar Association.

Prior to law school, Courtney was an English teacher at the Upper School of St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia.  She earned her B.A., magna cum laude, in English & Comparative Literature from Columbia University in 2010.  Courtney lives in San Francisco with her husband.
